For Lack of a Statesman

This is the White House in Washington, D.C.  It is currently occupied by this president.

This speech is dispicable for so many reasons.  Particularly offensive are the comments beginning at 19:00 in the speech.

The history of the border fence, what little there is, begins with a 14 mile stretch in SanDiego, California, which border patrol agents have said is effective for that area.  The rest of the 2100 mile U.S. Mexico border remained wide open until Republican Pres. George W. Bush signed a bill into law in 2006 which would build another 700 mile segment, still leaving 1400 unprotected miles.

“The bill was introduced on Sep. 13, 2006 by Peter T. King (R-NY). In the House of Representatives, the Fence Act passed 283 -138 on September 14, 2006. On September 29, 2006 – the Fence Act passed in the Senate 80 -19. Most Republicans voted in support of the Fence Act while most Democrats voted against it.[2]”  From Wikipedia   Source: Obama & McCain back-to-back speeches at NALEO Jun 28, 2008

Take note that it was a Republican who proposed the bill and Republicans who voted for it and Democrats who opposed it and voted against it.  Would there be any fence if the President’s party had their way?  NO.  They voted against it.

As a U. S. Senator, Obama voted for the fence, but has since backed away, sensing the disapproval of Latino Democrat voters, as did Hillary Clinton.  As if he lived in a cacoon somewhere on Mars, he answered a question about his position on the border and illegal immigration this way:

“For all the noise and anger that too often surrounds the immigration debate, America has nothing to fear from today’s immigrants. They have come here for the same reason that families have always come here–for the hope that in America, they could build a better life for themselves and their families. Like the waves of immigrants that came before them and the Hispanic Americans whose families have been here for generations, the recent arrival of Latino immigrants will only enrich our country.”  Barack Obama,  Source: Obama & McCain back-to-back speeches at NALEO Jun 28, 2008   http://www.ontheissues.org/international/barack_obama_immigration.htm

Nothing to fear from all those illegal immigrants.  Don’t fear the drug cartels that behead their victims and dump the headless bodies in public places to terrorize citizens.  No need to fear the high-powered weapons they use to gun people down on our side of the border.  The thefts, property destruction, rapes and kidnappings should not disturb our sleep at night.  We should feel perfectly safe with drug cartels targeting our kids with highly addictive drugs and dangerous gangs ruling some neighborhoods and initiating new members with drive-by shootings, or settling turf wars by murdering their rivals.  Don’t worry about being caught in a cross-fire.  And as you write that big check to the IRS and your state and local taxes, don’t worry about how much of it is required to finance the jam-packed prisons and jails needed to house all the illegal alien criminals that will probably get out someday and commit another crime.

(This is where there should be a photo of people killed by illegals, but gore isn’t needed.  Everyone except the guy behind the heavily guarded fence at the White House knows what’s going on at our border.)

After Obama moved to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue behind heavily-guarded fences, the clamor for a southern border fence grew too loud to ignore.  Fox News had reporters on-site filming lots of illegals streaming across umimpeded.  They filmed the large number of guns and weapons confiscated from apprehended illegals and the truckloads of drugs netted.

What happens when someone climbs the U.S.-Mexican border fence most of the time?

Usually nothing!

What happens when someone climbs the fence at Obama’s residence?

Does Obama feel unsafe without a fence, or without guards at the fence?  Does he fear for his family?  The citizens of the border states fear for their safety and the safety of their families, too.  They appealed to Obama for help.  To be fair, Obama and his Homeland Security Chief, Janet Napolitano, who also believes the border is safe, even though she said just the opposite when she was the governor of Arizona, decided to build a high tech fence rather than a physical one.  Oh wait!  That was also a Republican Pres. George W. Bush project Obama and Napolitano cancelled it, offering nothing in its place.  The project was too expensive and didn’t work, costing $1 billion and five wasted years.  Cancelled in 2010, it was the last effort to build a barrier to illegals.

Obama lives safely behind a physical fence with human guards, dogs and security cameras, while Texans, Arizonans, New Mexicans, Californians, and many states northward, live in danger, possesions stolen and/or defaced, and have to endure Obama telling them that the fence is finished, he added plenty of border patrol and the nation is safer than it’s ever been.  EVERYONE IN THE BORDER STATES KNOWS ITS UNTRUE!

To add insult to injury, Obama sarcastically mocked and laughed at the people in danger without admonishing the illegals climbing the fence portion that does exist, without demanding that the murder, human trafficking, drug running, rape, theft and property damage stop.  Without the slightest stern warning to the law-breakers, Obama insults the victims!  A higher fence, Mr. President?  How about any fence?  How about tearing down that fence around the White House and leaving it down until there is a fence around the U.S.?

http://www.cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/newsroom/highlights/fence_map.ctt/fence_map.pdf

The web site for the U. S. Customs and Border Protection Agency above provides a map of the U.S.-Mexico border showing the progress of the border fence.  A green line is finished fence.  A yellow line is fence under construction.  A red line is fence that is planned but not yet under construction.  You will notice a lot of green lines, but note that there are breaks in the line that amount to miles.  You will also notice that Texas is wide open, with only a small portion of fencing at El Paso.  I wonder why Obama made his “fence speech” at El Paso rather than further south in Texas.  I know why he didn’t choose to go to Arizona.  He is suing them.  This is the only map on their site and it’s dated 12/29/2009.  It appears that nothing has been planned since then and no construction is under way.  That represents the two years that Obama has been in the White House, yet in his speech he talks as if he has finished the fence and satisfied everyone’s requests, but Republicans keep moving the goal posts.

Regarding his statement that “they will want a higher fence”, it might be a good idea, considering all the video of illegals climbing over the existing fence.  What good is a fence that can be scaled?

This was not the speech of a statesman.  Not the speech of an informed politician.  Not the spirit of a president of the United States.  This was a vindictive slap at those  who dared fight back when he said “no.”    The border states asked for federal border control to keep them safe.  They were rebuffed.  When they had no other choice but to defend themselves, Obama sued the state of Arizona to block them from their own defense.  While no one has asked for a mote or an alligator, Obama has dogs that can tear your leg off if you climb his fence.

Obama incorrectly assumes that the only aliens crossing our border illegally are honest hard-working Mexicans coming here to work so they can feed their families. Well, how honest can they be if they break the law to get here, take a fake social security number, falsify documents to conceal their immigrant status, take pay in cash to avoid paying taxes, use our welfare and medical benefits reserved for citizens, etc., etc., etc.?  Since none of these illegals check in with anyone, they can be from any country with any motive, such as felons escaping prison in their home countries,  Al Qaeida, Hamas, Hezbollah, Chinese spies, Russian spies, Venezuelans, virtually anyone with any motive – terrorism being the highest on the list.

Obama has forgotten that he is the president of the United States and should behave accordingly, sensitive to the needs of all citizens, and not a stand-up comic taking shots at people he doesn’t like.

Shame on Mr. Obama.

Where did these guns come from? The government’s deadly Fast and Furious gun running scheme?

So the fence is finished, high enough, there’s enough border patrol and we are safe.  Hogwash!

Legalize Marijuana? Kill Two Birds with One Stoned?

Posted on September 28, 2010. Filed under: politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

” California voters will decide whether to legalize marijuana for adults. The proposition has strong backing from nurses unions and teachers unions, who hope that the revenue raised will stave off layoffs.”  9/16/10  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/16/marijuana-use-arrests-up-kerlikowske_n_719989.html

You would expect nurses to be concerned about the health of the citizens of California, as you might expect teachers to be concerned about the health, well-being and ability to learn of the students of their state.  But that’s not the case.  Their concern is for the revenue, the money collected from the sales tax that would be levied to help with the growing debt and save their jobs.  Gov. Schwarzenegger wasn’t concerned about the citizens’ health or the impact on his state’s workforce or inebriated drivers on California’s already burdensome highways.  He wants the sales tax to pay down the state’s debt after irrational spending sprees, which continue today with the opening of the Taj Mahal of public schools bearing a price tag of $578 million!

“With an eye-popping price tag of $578 million, it will mark the inauguration of the nation’s most expensive public school ever.”  8/22/10  AP  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100822/ap_on_re_us/us_taj_mahal_schools

That’s this year after California has been teetering on the edge of bankruptcy for years.  That was while Californians were receiving IOUs from the state in lieu of their tax refunds!

There’s no concern over health, well-being, ability to support oneself, impact to workforce, state’s productivity, impact on children and families, DUI’s on the roads, medical costs or the example set for each new generation of children.  It’s exclusively about money – more and more money.  They say they hope to pay the state’s debt with it, but everyone knows they will keep spending without restraint and the drug  money will not be enough.  There will never be enough because politicians don’t exercise fiscal responsiblity.  They like cookies and they’ve been handed the cookie jar.

Politicians are so addicted to unlimited spending of other people’s money, that they rack up an unsustainable debt and then look to some vice to pay for it.  They’ve always tried to legalize gambling, tax it and use that to support their spending addiction.  Now it’s marijuana.  When that’s not enough, they will look for another vice to tax.  Legalize prostitution and tax it?  It’s been mentioned before but was sharply rejected.  That was before the public became accustomed to seeing sex, nudity, profanity and porn on their living room televisions every day.  Now, the public is much less sensitive to lewdness and it might be acceptable in the near future.  How long before politicians advance to legalize cocaine?  Not possible, you say?  Look how far we’ve come already.  Things once thought outrageous are commonplace today.  Americans have been pre-conditioned to accepted the legalization of vices so the politicians can tax, tax, tax and tax some more.  All to feed their spending addiction.

It is immoral to spend other people’s hard-earned money as if they can always come up with more.  That money represents chunks of their lives.  Hours, days, weeks, months, years they spent earning it.  Segments of their health.  Time away from their families.  And it will NEVER BE ENOUGH!!   Do the politicians appreciate what it cost the taxpayers to earn it?   If politicians are that immoral, it should be no surprise that they would look to immoral behaviors to tax.

The solution is not to raise the funds on the backs of the population through sin taxes.  Those behaviors are called sin and were made illegal for good reason. The behaviors are destructive to individuals, then to families, then to communities. and inevitably to states and nations.

One argument favoring drug legalization is that it will take away the profit from drug cartels and drug traffickers and put them out of business.  Think this through.  Drug cartels and traffickers are willing to murder for that money. Does anyone rationally believe they will simply settle down and let their income go, once drugs are legalized?  Will this end the violence among violent people?  Will these people become tame and civilized and law-abiding?  No way.  They will move into some other kind of trafficking, perhaps step up their human trafficking, which is far worse, to make up the lost “revenue”.  You see, they are addicted to revenue just as much as the politicians.  It’s a war for revenue between the politicians and the cartels.   We MUST close the borders, stop the trafficking across the border, hunt down, lock up and prosecute the criminals.

Once the cartels change their focus to other vices such as human trafficking, more deadly drugs, kidnapping, extortion, protection rackets, will the government start eyeing that revenue to pay off their still sky-rocketing debts?  What will they legalize next?  If the rationale is to stop the drug cartels from violence and trafficking by making it legal, then what will we have to legalize next to stop the cartels when they replace that lost revenue with another vice?  How much can we legalize to stop the violence?  How much are willing to legalize to stop the violence?  Legalize human trafficking?   It’s very hard to imagine anyone would vote for that.  But the cartels, already engaged in this, will step it up to replace lost revenue.  We will be making everything much worse by legalizing marijuana or any drug.  It will solve nothing.

There will be those who are never convinced and want to legalize marijuana, for one reason alone.  They like it and want to use it.    Question for them:  Would you want your doctor to perform surgery on you after he/she has used marijuana?  If it’s legal, there will be no testing and no one will know before your surgery.  If it’s legal, no one can stop doctors from operating under the influence.

Would you want to fly across the ocean (or anywhere for that matter) on a plane piloted by someone under the influence of marijuana?   If it’s legal, some of us will unknowingly.  Do you want your Congressmen and Senators voting on new laws restricting your freedom and taxing you more while they are under the influence of marijuana.  Do you want your school children riding on a bus driven by someone under the influence of MJ?  People wouldn’t want anyone under the influence of alcohol in the same situations.  But it happens.  Now we have the chance of doubling that with alcohol and MJ.  It’s already come to light that some people will use both simultaneously or use one while the other is still in their system, increasing the effects.  This is dangerous for all of us.  Those who don’t use, will be driving on the same highways with those who do.  It wasn’t a good idea to legalize alcohol. Too many precious lives have been lost due to drunk drivers.  One life is too high a cost to pay.

What will be the effect upon children in homes where marijuana is being used routinely?  Scientists say that non-users are affected by the smoke in the room.   Children should never be subjected to this.  For a list of negative effects of marijuana, visit http://alcoholism.about.com/od/pot/a/effects.-Lya.htm and http://www.justice.gov/dea/ongoing/marijuana.html .  The effects are many and some are quite serious.   No one’s health should be sold out for tax revenue because adults cannot control their spending of the public purse.

Once this weed is legalized, many people will begin growing it in their yards and young people will get it.  Pot gardens will sprout up in neighborhoods everywhere. It will be impossible to keep it from children and teens.  The opportunity for destruction is huge and unmanageable.

Speaking of the public purse:  Obama’s new health care bill tries to address the cost of health care by discouraging unhealthy habits, predominately eating habits and smoking cigarettes.   While seeking to remove candy and soda from vending machines nationwide, it would be fool-hearty to legalize the use of marijuana, a far more health-busting substance than Cokes and candy.   No amount of fresh carrot sticks can heal the marijuana users.  Our individual costs will sky-rocket (again) after marijuana use is legalized and the devastation blooms.  Aren’t the people of America wiser than this?

The solution is to attack the spending addictions of our elected and appointed officials.  Pass laws requiring balanced budgets set by the citizens, not the politicians.  Get the government completely out of everything not enumerated to them in the Constitution.  Repeal everything the government has no right to do.  Return most government activities to the private sector – the people.  Pass term limits, so that no politician has the time to build cushy nests for themselves and networks of “friends” to pass the money around.  Put checks and balances in place and oversight to make them function properly.

Legalizing any drug, including marijuana, simply and most assuredly, feeds the addictions of the public and the politicians, thereby increasing both – the unintended consequence of a wrong-headed attempt to solve two problems with one “stoned”.  (purposely misspelled).

Sen. Kyle vs. Pres. Obama – Who is Telling the Truth?

Posted on June 21, 2010. Filed under: 2010 election, ALERT!, Clinton, Constitution, Democrats, Dictator, Hillary, Illegal Aliens, immigration, Liberty, McCain, Obama, politics, sovereignty, terrorism, U.S. Government | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

Sen. Jon Kyle of Arizona told a group of his constituents that he met privately with Obama about the border and Obama told him that he couldn’t secure the borders.  If he did, Republicans would have no reason to pass his immigration reform bill (read that “amnesty and welfare and social security for illegal aliens).  That is positively cold-hearted and barbaric.  People are dying.

Obama promised the Gov. of Arizona  that he would send troops and financial aid to the border of Arizona and Mexico within two weeks.  The deadline has come and gone with no word whatsoever from Obama or his staff.  Arizona and Gov. Jan Brewer learned that, instead of sending aid, Obama is planning to sue Arizona for its efforts to protect its citizens and defend its border against Mexican invasion.  They learned of it from a foreign news cast that was broadcast back on June 8.  In this cast, Hillary Clinton states that Obama is suing Arizona.  One would expect a president to contact the Governor before June 8 and tell her of his intentions.  Not this president.  He practices Chicago thuggery in the White House.  Not a shred of common decency or consideration.  No sign of professionalism.

Common decency would compel him to secure the borders JUST TO STOP THE KILLING AND KIDNAPPING, AND THE SMUGGLING OF DRUGS AND PEOPLE – all devastating to American citizens.  Instead, he is refusing to secure the borders, hoping he can use the crime and devastation to force his opponents to succumb to the pressure and pass his “amnesty and welfare for illegals” bill.  This is unforgivable and worthy of impeachment.  The president swore to uphold the Constitution and protect American citizens and the border.  HE IS NOT.

Obama has promised an inadequate number of border agents, ICE officials and money, but has not yet even sent that.  His spokespeople do not state the numbers of agents, they use better sounding terms like “doubling the number”.  If the number was nine, then doubling would be eighteen, woefully insufficient to make a difference. He promised Gov. Brewer that he would send 1200 agents to the border.  Sound good?  These will be desk-bound agents.  Still sound good?  Not so much.

The sooner Chicago leaves the White House, the sooner this country can begin work to regain safety, sovereignty and individual liberties, stolen by despicable power plays of Obama, Pelosi, Reid and all who voted with them.  November can’t come soon enough.

Of course, the White House denies this.  There were only two people in the room:  Obama and Kyle.  Who is telling the truth?  A simple Google search of Obama’s campaign promises and today’s reality will result in dozens of lies told by Obama to the American people.  If he lied dozens of times, what’s one more? I believe Sen. Kyle.  The proof is in the pudding.  No aid is going to Arizona and the Feds are suing that state.

Arizona Sen. John McCain got a bill passed through the Senate Armed Services Committee for 6,000 troops to be sent to defend the border.  However, it has to pass in the full Senate,  the House of Representatives and be signed into law by the president.

“It turns out that the approval for 6,000 troops that McCain got through the Senate Armed Services Committee is attached to a larger Senate bill.

According to news reports, McCain’s proposal might be challenged by the administration as an infringement on the authority of the commander-in-chief.”

The Commander-in-Chief had better secure our borders before another 9/11 happens and forever seals Obama’s legacy.  (and it wouldn’t do the citizens any good, either!)

Get engaged.  Be pro-active.  Do whatever you can to educate the people in your sphere of influence.  America is on the brink.

Obama Wants Open Borders – U.S. (WE) Don’t

A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials
In ages!!!  It explains things better than all
The baloney you hear on TV.

Her point:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place
Across the country protesting the fact that
 Arizona
Is addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that
The US might protect its own
Borders, might make it harder
To sneak into this country and,
Once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand
The thinking behind these protests.
Let’s say I break into your house.
Let’s say that when you discover
Me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, ‘No! I like it here.

It’s better than my house. I’ve made all
The beds and washed the
Dishes and did the laundry
And swept the floors. I’ve
Done all the things you don’t
Like to do. I’m hard-working
And honest

(except for when I broke into your house)
.

According to the protesters:

You are Required to let me stay in your house

You are Required to feed me
You are Required to add me to your family’s insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required
to Provide other benefits to me & to my family
(my husband will do all of your yard work because
He is also hard-working and honest, except for that
Breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out,
I will call my friends who will picket your
House carrying signs that proclaim my
RIGHT
to be there.

It’s only fair, after all, because you have
A nicer house than I do, and I’m just
Trying to better myself.  I’m a hard-working
And honest, person, except for well,
You know, I did break into your house

And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a
Fraction of the cost of my keep, and
There is nothing you can do about it
Without being accused of cold,

Uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and
Bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn
MY LANGUAGE!!!
So you can
Communicate with me.

Laredo, Texas

Why can’t people see how ridiculous
This is? Only in America .

MS-13 Gang Member

If you aren’t familiar with MS-13 gangs and their brutality and murderous behavior, look them up.  They’re here!

Politicians say they don’t know what to do with the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens in this country already.  If you stop the welfare and freebies, and discontinue the hiring of illegals, they will voluntarily go home immediately.  If you stop giving citizenship to babies born here by mothers who came across the border just in time to birth their babies, they will stop coming.  Politicians don’t have the will to do this.  They want the votes of the immigrant communities and the future votes of the illegals, once they are granted amnesty.  This is not best for our country.  This is only best for the politicians.  Until now.  Americans are so outraged at the lunacy of government immigration and illegal immigration policies, and their refusal to control our borders, that they are set to vote out incumbents.   November, 2010 will teach the politicians that CITIZENS matter.

How to Lower Health Care Costs Without Government

Posted on August 12, 2009. Filed under: Health Care | Tags: , , , , , , , , |

health-care-plan-organizational-chart

Suggestion #1:

All of these offices and agencies will cost massive amounts of money to operate and generate salaries for the staff.  Many of the staff and directors will be appointed by politicians and the President (you know, like their kids, their wives and their brother-in-laws?)

How much cheaper would health care be if all of the government beauracracies were eliminated and health care was strictly between the citizen and their doctor?  No one else.  Quite a bit cheaper.

Suggestion #2.

Doctors, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies have to pay high premiums for insurance against excessive judgments in lawsuits.  This is a cost of doing business and is added to the rates they charge patients.

Our health care system is not broken.  The cost is too high.  We can thank patients and their lawyers who sue for much more money than the cases justify.   If Congress won’t pass TORT reform, then perhaps doctors and hospitals could adopt a policy that corrects the problem.

They could refuse to treat people who won’t sign a waiver which limits the amount of any lawsuit to a reasonable sum.  It won’t prevent patients from suing and it reduces the insurance coverage required for protection against lawsuits.  This allows doctors and hospitals to lower their costs to patients because their operating costs are lower.

Any doctors or hospitals who don’t want to enact this policy can continue to purchase the expensive insurance and pass that cost along to their patients.  We, the citizens, will have the choice, then, to pay higher doctor and hospital costs to retain the right to sue for exorbitant amounts or we can choose doctors and hospitals with lower costs, knowing that we can sue for malpractice and receive a lower more reasonable settlement.

Pharmaceutical companies can print the waiver on their drug  packages warning that purchase of their drug constitutes an agreement by the purchaser that they can not sue for more than the amounts on a chart at the company web site.  The charts can also be available for the asking at the pharmacy selling the drugs.  Consumers can ask to see the charts before they make a purchase.  Pharmaceuticals who don’t wish to participate, can continue marketing expensive drugs and carrying expensive insurance protection.  Again, the consumers have choices.

These suggestions should be successful because most consumers do not sue for unreasonable amounts.   Furthermore, competition for consumers will bring about lower costs.   This is just a first attempt to solve some of the problems we face with health care.  We have to start somewhere.

If you like these ideas, please leave your feedback here.
