A SHOCKER! – Installment 2 – May 15, 2008 Re-Post
The religion of Gaia (jee-uh) is appealing to a broad range of people because it allows for scientific, political and religious discussions which can be reconciled with each other. None of them are mutually exclusive. Author of the Gaia Hypothesis was James Lovelock, an atmospheric scientist working for NASA on the Mars Life project. His hypothesis was based on what he observed and therefore can be viewed as a scientific hypothesis. He collaborated with noted microbiologist, Dr. Lynn Margulis, who helped him develop the concepts.
Scientifically, according to Lovelock, biomass modifies the conditions on the planet to make conditions on the planet more hospitable. The Gaia Hypothesis properly defined this hospitality as a full “homeostasis”. In simple terms, the Earth is a single living cell or organism which makes necessary adjustments to protect and nourish life on Earth, which includes the biosphere, atmosphere, oceans and soil. Mother Earth constantly maintains or “sustains” life by maintaining the conditions necessary for life.
Spiritually, the Gaia religion “no longer sees man as the measure of all things or the center of the universe. He has been measured and found to be an undistinguished bit of matter, different in no essential way from bacteria, stones and trees. His goals and purposes, his egocentric notions of past, present and future; his faith in his power to predict and through prediction to control his destiny – all these are called into question, considered irrelevant, or deemed trivial.” http://www.experiencefestival.com/gaia_hypothesis Rather than belief in “survival of the fittest” or “selfish-gene” as they call it, all life forms are interconnected and part of one single life organism – Mother Earth – Gaia.
http://www.pantheism.net/index.htm – “Are you searching for a spiritual path that focuses on this Earth rather than some imaginary beyond, that makes saving the planet its focus not saving your eternal soul, that respects individual choice rather than pushing prejudice down people’s throats, that values reason rather than fanaticism? Do you find it impossible to believe in supernatural beings…If you answered yes to these questions, then you will feel thoroughly at home in the World Pantheist Movement.”
Politically, the homeostasis must be protected by people who are aware of the destructive behaviors of humans on Mother Earth. Human life styles have a tremendous negative impact and each individual leaves his own “footprint” on Mother Earth. Over-population is believed to be a root cause of an imbalance in the Earth’s ecology. Natural homeostasis cannot keep pace with the rapidly increasing population and it’s “footprints”.
Protectors form organizations and lobby governing bodies to legislate life styles and human behavior to rid the planet of harmful activities.
“We are interfering in every natural cycle and every ecosystem.” Paul Harrison, “The Third Revolution”, Penguin Books, London and New York, 1993.
Worshippers of Gaia strongly believe that Mother Earth is in an environmental crisis and have begun an ecological revolution.
Eco-Pagans believe in the sacredness of nature which leads to an embodiment of political commitment. As a result, the sacred body is integrated in political strategies of resistance. It is more than just an expression of a holistic belief system. It is a way of “being-in-the-world”. Eco-Pagan practice engenders subjective feelings of interconnectedness as well as inspiration to political activism. http://gaia.tribe.net/thread/4569ed5b-6011-415f-997f-d532fda85eeb
Lovelock believed that the Earth maintained constant climate temperature, atmosphere composition and ocean salinity. Without proof, he surmised that conditions on Earth have always been the same as they were when he observed them. “Uniformitarianism: things have always been the same as they are now.” But we don’t know that and neither did he.
If the Earth’s global temperature fluctuated, Gaias, relying on their belief system, assumed it was the fault of the rapidly increasing numbers of people and their activities. What else could it be? Too many humans are leaving their footprint on the earth.
By now, a light bulb has probably turned on in your head. But make that a fluorescent bulb because incandescent bulbs will someday, maybe soon, be outlawed and the fluorescent bulb will be ushered in. But that’s another subject that I hope to get into in a later installment.
Tomorrow’s installment will name some of Gaia’s big name players. I’ll give you a hint. One of them is Al Gore. Surprised?Read Full Post | Make a Comment ( None so far )
New York, New Jersey and Connecticutt were blanketed with heavy snowfall yesterday, Oct. 15. “Trick-or-treaters” have not yet made the rounds and snow already covers the sidewalks. Residents say that it’s too early for this kind of winter weather.
Pennsylvania: Penn State posted warnings on the school’s web site, warning of hazardous conditions due to early heavy snowfall, downed power lines, falling tree limbs, dangerous driving and walking conditions, causing them to move their homecoming pep rally indoors. Imagine the homecoming ceremonies in heavy coats and shoes appropriate for snow.
“In what an advisory from the National Weather Service has termed “a remarkable … historic and extremely damaging event,” the wintry mix of rain and snow that was falling earlier today (Oct. 15) has turned to all snow over much of the northern half of central Pennsylvania. Because many trees still have their leaves, this early, wet snowfall has potential to cause serious damage, with the ability to bring down tree limbs and power lines.
“STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — An autumn storm brought snow to parts of Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, the earliest snow on record in one town.
The National Weather Service says there’s 4.5 inches of snow in State College, Pa., and 2 more inches are possible through Saturday morning. The snow began falling Thursday, breaking the record for the earliest snow since one-tenth of an inch fell on Oct. 18, 1901.
Port Allegany in northwestern Pennsylvania and Perrysburg in western New York both got more than 3 inches of snow, with most areas east of Lake Erie reporting 2 inches or less. Two inches of snow also has fallen in parts of northwest New Jersey.”
This early record-breaking winter and snowfall is occurring all around the world. An Austrian news agency reported the following:
Austria’s provincial capitals are expected to see their earliest snowfalls in history today (Mon) as Arctic air sweeps the country.
Josef Haselhofer from Vienna’s Central Agency for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) said today (Mon) Arctic air would probably result in the first snow cover in provincial capitals before 20 October in history and said Innsbruck, Salzburg and St. Pölten were likely to see snow. Al Gore has not commented on how this proves his global warming theory, but it’s certain he will. Warmers take any weather event at all, hot or cold, and claim it’s the result of climate change. Predictions are that this will be a premature, long and cold winter, so brace yourselves. “It’s going to be a bumpy ride.”Read Full Post | Make a Comment ( None so far )
WENATCHEE — Long-standing records were shattered as temperatures plummeted around North Central Washington on Sunday and into today.
The Wenatchee Valley set two record lows for Oct. 11: 23 at Pangborn Memorial Airport, breaking the previous low of 33 set in 1990; and 25 in Wenatchee, dipping below the low of 28 set in 1931.
“It’s pretty extraordinary to break records by 10 degrees or more,” said Greg Koch, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Spokane.
New low records were also set in Plain, Ephrata, Moses Lake, Winthrop, Mazama and Omak on Sunday, and more record-low temperatures were expected to be set this morning, Koch said. http://www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/2009/oct/12/record-cold-hits-region-snow-on-the-way/
This record breaking cold and early chill news heads a long list of the same happening all over the world. The BBC is asking in their publications, “Where’s the global warming?” No one will answer. Al Gore is still out there promoting the same junk science without a stitch of revision, even in light of today’s and previous years’ dropping temperatures and earlier and earlier chills. He’s not open to questions, shutting off the microphone of a journalist who questioned the errors in his film, “An Inconvenient Truth”, which isn’t in line with the truth.
The facts are that the hottest recorded temps were in 1998 and have cooled ever since. We’ve seen eleven years of cooler temps, not warmer. “Warmers” have had to temper their statements with a name change to “climate change”, in the hopes no one will notice that they’ve been dead wrong.
It would be appropriate to call them “changers” now, because change is exactly what they’ve been working for. Like our “Changer in Chief”, Pres. Obama, they are calling for drastic changes to the way all of us live and how our bank accounts will be greatly changed to the red if the governments of the world have their way.
The changers are working very hard to produce cash flow, strong and steady, from your bank account to their bank accounts. Those in government positions are also setting up powerful positions for themselves, stripping away the freedoms of the average citizen.
The American Revolution was all about throwing off repressive powerful government so that people could rule themselves, pursue happiness and have the right to life and liberty. The changers will most definitely change all of that if we don’t stop them.
http://www.iceagenow.com/Record_Lows_2009.htm This one is a great site to get information on record low temps in the last ten years.
We must convince our elected officials to vote against the Cap and Trade Bill and the Pres. to refuse to sign the Kyoto or any other Treaty regarding climate change.Read Full Post | Make a Comment ( None so far )
UPDATE!! Iran moving warships to surround Israel?
It’s common knowledge that America’s main stream media only reports what is favorable to Obama’s administration and that they use their networks to spread Obama’s propaganda. So how can Americans be adequately informed on the real state of Iran’s nuclear weapons program? By listening to the country with the most to lose from Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons – Israel. It’s safe to say that they are keeping the closest and most honest eye on the Iranians’ every move regarding nuclear capabilities. They can’t afford to gloss over any developments or to take on face value any statements made by Ahmadinejad.
The Jerusalem Post online has published a great article explaining what took place recently in the Geneva talks with Iran, the U.S., and the other countries trying to diffuse a dangerous situation. Read it and be well-informed. We will all suffer from nuclear bombs falling anywhere in the world.
“Should a single American or Zionist missile land in our country, before the dust settles, Iranian missiles will blow up the heart of Israel,” Zolnour was quoted as saying by the state IRNA news agency.
“Should Israel take any action against Iran, we will eliminate Israel from the scene of the universe,” Gen. Muhammad Reza Ashtiani said at the time in Teheran.
“US President Barack Obama’s low approval ratings among Israelis must improve for the Israeli-Arab peace process to advance, according to Israel’s envoy to the United States.
Ambassador Michael Oren cited polls showing just 4 percent of the Israeli public believed Obama is pro-Israel, during a speech at the Washington Hudson Institute think tank Thursday. He said that if the Israeli public didn’t trust the Obama administration it would be unwilling to take the steps necessary for a peace deal, and called the survey results “one of the greatest obstacles” to peace-making.”
“Those Israelis who are going to make peace with their neighbors are going to be asked to take immense risks, extraordinary risks with themselves, their families, their children. In order to take those risks, they need to be able to trust the administration. It’s crucial,” he said.”
The two biggest threats to world peace right now are the Islamic terrorists in the Middle East – Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan – and the threat of nuclear war between Iran and Israel. Obama is cited as an obstacle to the latter and is stalling on decision-making in the former. Yet, this man was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize far in advance of any accomplishments in any area of responsibility.
The inevitable will occur. It’s a question of time. Iran has no intentions of backing down on their promise to “wipe Israel off the map.” No one is stopping them. Netanyahu was elected precisely because Israelis feel very much threatened and previous leaders of Israel were unable to affect a deal with anyone that guarantees safety for the tiny, but powerful Jewish state. They may have to go it alone and have probably realized it by now. Obama is pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel.
If you’re a praying person, start now. We entered a new era when Obama was elected.Read Full Post | Make a Comment ( 1 so far )
