More Pay for Fed Employees – June 09, 2009
While no one is minding the store, the politicians are raiding the cash register.
The House recently (6/4/09) passed the Federal Employee PAID Parental Leave Act (H.R. 626 by a margin of 258 for, 154 against, 20 not voting and 1 voted “present.” To see who voted “for”, who voted “against”, and who didn’t vote or voted “present,” visit http://www.congress.org/congressorg/issues/votes/?votenum=310&chamber=H&congr…. There is an explanation of the bill, the vote tally, and a map showing the majority vote by state. Click on the state and get the actual breakdown of votes. From there, you can click on a representative’s name and go to his/her web site, where you can contact them about their vote – which we all should do when we believe they are not representing us.
This bill provides that 4 of the 12 weeks of parental leave made available to a Federal employee shall be PAID leave. If a female federal employee takes parental leave of 12 weeks to have a baby, 4 of those weeks will be paid. Most Republicans voted against this, with about 20 voting for it. About 5 Democrats voted against it.
Politicians believe there is no end to the money stream. It grows on trees as far as they know. They will never stop the spending until We the People stand up to them and make their chances for re-election slim to none.
