Schwarzenegger – May 15, 2009
If any one of us was bankrupt and needed to raise cash – a lot of cash – we wouldn’t think of selling marijuana as a solution. If we did, we’d be arrested and sent to jail. Many ARE sitting in jail for selling marijuana.
But the law doesn’t apply to politicians. They simply change the law to suit their desires.
The Governator of California has publically stated that it’s time to debate the idea of legalizing marijuana so he can tax it and bring big dirty bucks into the state’s coffers. He has great morals, doesn’t he? Would he like for his own children to smoke marijuana? Does he smoke pot?
Schwarzenegger, Republican moderates, and mostly Democrats, have run the state’s economy into the ground over-spending, restricting individual liberty, subsidizing illegal aliens, blocking the harvesting of the state’s natural resources and driving business and much of the work force out with high taxes and high living costs.
Now they want to further destroy lives by legalizing a mind-altering addictive drug so they can TAX IT – to cover up their mess, without making the necessary changes to reverse their economy’s downward death spiral.
When half the state is sitting around on their keisters smoking pot, watching the ocean, listening to music, living in “la-la land”, who is going to get up and go to work every day to support the economy? Who is going to get up and participate in charitable organizations? Who is going to raise their children to be responsible citizens?
Do you want to fly in an airplane with a pilot on pot? It shows up in drug tests for thirty days. Do you want to have surgery with a doctor on pot? Do you want the elevator maintenance man smoking pot just before he fixes the elevator that takes you to the fortieth floor? Do you want a pot-head teaching your children?
If you answered even one question with a resounding “NO”, then legalizing marijuana is a terrible idea and must be blocked at all costs.
With no apologies, we must all call and write Schwarzenegger and tell him absolutely do NOT legalize marijuana. California’s culture always affects the rest of us. Trust me. It does.
Why do politicians always turn to legalizing vice and sin to get more money? The other idea they come up with consistently is gambling. Gambling has ruined too many lives and is difficult to keep free of organized crime – or unorganized crime, for that matter. It ends up costing the state much more in fighting crime, investigating, hunting, chasing, prosecuting, incarcerating criminals, employing larger numbers of police, judges and court staff, building more jails and court houses and the cost victims pay.
I’ve heard too many “adults” say that marijuana should be legalized because it isn’t addictive. The latest studies show that it IS addictive and that it almost always leads to the use of stronger drugs that are highly addictive and life-threatening. Just ask the many celebrities who advanced from marijuana to cocaine and heroine, ruined their careers, racked up jail time and a criminal record and struggled for years to break their addictions in and out of rehabs and jails.
Who will suffer the most? Teenagers and people in their early twenties before they get the chance to go to high school or college and jump start their careers. Addicts often steal to pay for their increasingly more expensive habits because they often lose their jobs and/or don’t have a job that pays enough. Before they begin their adult lives, they have criminal records which prevent them from renting apartments, getting good jobs and if it was a felony, they lose their right to vote. They often can’t keep their marriages together. Families are split. Children are left with single parent homes. Some children are neglected, abused or not adequately provided for. Then we need more government healthcare and insurance for the children. I’ve seen YouTube videos of teens and young adults giving marijuana to toddlers and laughing about it. We all suffer, but the young will suffer the most. Would Schwarzenegger want his own children to smoke marijuana?
Addicts of anything, substances, gambling, sex, more often than not, end up needing some kind of public assistance at the taxpayer’s expense. It’s a bad idea to encourage vice. Criminals also see it as a way to make lots of money, and I don’t want my elected officials to behave like criminals.
JUST STOP THE INSANE SPENDING AND THE GOOFY IDEAS THAT ARE NOT BASED ON TRUE SCIENCE OR THAT ARE CONTRARY TO THE FREEDOMS GUARANTEED BY THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES. BALANCE THE BUDGET EVERY YEAR WITHOUT FUDGING. IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD IT, DON’T DO IT.
IT’S THAT SIMPLE. ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING. NEVER DO SOMETHING THAT IS WRONG. VICES ARE WRONG FOR MANY REASONS.
