Tip of the Day – January 13, 2009
Valentine’s Day is February 14th, just one month away.
Here are a couple of tips that you’re going to thank me for later!
If you haven’t made your reservations for Valentine’s Day (evening), you’d better get busy and make them today!!!!!
In order to get the place and time you want on Valentine’s Evening, you usually have to reserve a month in advance. This year may be more difficult because Valentine’s is on a Saturday. More people will go out than do on a “work” night. Plus, there are those people who don’t have a Valentine, but go out on Saturday night every week. So take my advice and make your reservations today or tomorrow. You’ll be glad you did, and so will your Valentine.
You also must order your flowers now. TIP: Have them delivered Friday, Feb. 13th, instead of Valentine’s Day. They arrive in much better condition and the flowers are fresh and beautiful. They are also more likely to be delivered and not “lost” in the hectic Valentine’s Day rush to deliver too many orders. Your Valentine will wake up in a happy mood on Valentine’s Day because she/he received unexpected flowers (roses?) the day before. This may also help deflect any Friday the 13th disasters.
What gifts are new this year?
Nike’s red/lavender Dunk low ID shoe at http://store.nike.com/index.jsp?sitesrc=USLP&country=US&lang_locale=en_US#l=shop,pdp,ctr-nikeid/pn-dunLow0807/pbid-INSPI_21041_v9_0_20080807/piid-6680/pid-208880/cid-1

COACH KEY CHAINS at http://www.coach.com/content/thumbnail.aspx?category_id=666&cm_sp=TopNav-_-Wo…. They are expensive and most women would love to have one or two, but hate to spend that much on a key chain. Most would love to receive one as a gift, OR TWO! It’s best to order it today to ensure delivery before Valentine’s Day and to ensure that the best ones aren’t sold out.
Everyone needs their car washed. Consider giving gift certificates to the car wash. Better yet, take the car for the wash for your Valentine. That will definitely earn you brownie points. This gift depends on the level of your relationship, your budget and what type person you’re shopping for.
IPod Nanos and IPod Shuffles are always welcome gifts and come in many vibrant colors, especially red, pink, lavender, white and a super blue and green. There’s black and silver for the guys.
Don’t forget accessories for your Valentine’s cell phone ranging from bling and glitz to leather and waterproof and in all colors. Designer styles make a big impression on women, and some guys.
Engagement ring? Pick it out together!
If you want to give candy, buy a small amount and add it to a nice gift. It’s so hard to eat a ton of chocolate! If you’re young, it breaks out your face. If you’re old, it packs on the pounds. No one likes the “middle” of most “assorted chocolates.” Stick with chocolates like “Millionaires or Turtles”, or mixed flavors of Jelly Bellies in cute containers. To show yourself more thoughtful, go to a candy boutique at the mall and choose your own assortment and container.
Jewelry will always be a winner if you consider your Valentine’s style. Bracelets and necklaces come in every price range and style. No woman has too many of them. Men ususally need a new watch. How about one for every day and one for dressing up? FOSSIL is the best place to shop. The more gadgets on a man’s watch, the better he likes it.
Some women love Swarovsky crystal. Does she love bunnies, bears, puppies, kittens, musical instruments, etc? Swarovsky has them all in small to large sizes and varied price ranges.
Men love football. What can I say? Academy has grills and accessories for tailgating, folding chairs, coolers, portable refrigerators, heaters, and tents.
How about a portable TV for the guys on the go and for their tailgating parties?
PROBABLY THE BEST VALENTINE GIFT OF ALL IS THE WEEKEND AWAY! It doesn’t have to be far away, just away – to someplace relaxing yet fun. San Antonio’s Riverwalk, cities along the coast or on a beautiful lake, San Antonio’s Hyatt Hill Country Resort, places of interest that you both like. There are millions of them across the country. It’s easy to find one near enough for a weekend escape.
That should get you started and help you come up with some great ideas of your own. You may want to put together an assortment of items.
TIP: Avoid the same old tired ideas of the past and especially those that are offensive to women of good taste. Be current, thoughtful and tasteful. Forget the
joke stuff. It’s a waste of your good money.
Valentine’s Day is one of my most favorite days of the year. I LOVE IT!
